Does Compressy upload my images?

No. Everything runs locally on your PC. No upload, no cloud processing, no account.

Which formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and more — with control over quality, engine and output format.

Can I undo a compression?

Yes. When “Overwrite originals” is on, Compressy keeps a copy in a backup folder.

Is it really free?

Free. Offline. Built for Windows. No dashboard, no subscription.

How fast is it?

Everything you need to know.

Do I need an account?

No. Open the app and select a folder. That is the whole setup.

Will quality suffer?

You control it. Quality 85 by default — slide down for size, up for fidelity.

What about large folders?

Batch with concurrency. The progress bar and header stats stay live.

Where are backups?

Originals go to a backup folder when overwriting.

Can I rename outputs?

Yes — {prefix}-{NNNN}.{ext} with a live preview in settings.

Is it offline forever?

Yes. No internet is required to compress. Your images stay on disk.

Is Compressy private by default?

Which formats handle best?

JPEG (mozjpeg), PNG (oxipng), WebP and AVIF — with keep-original or transcode.

Can I resize while compressing?

Yes — Max W × H, downscale only, keep aspect. Off by default.

How do I verify a download?

Each release lists a SHA256. Run certutil -hashfile to check.
